How to spend 2 days in Copenhagen:

2 days in Copenhagen – Day 1

Take a walking tour and visit the places listed below. They are all close to each other and this will be the perfect tour, to see all the highlights. For your information, in Copenhagen are a lot of free walking tours, so the tour itself is free but you must tip the tour guide. If you want to learn all about the history of the places, then such a tour is a good idea, but you can totally handle and by yourself.

1. Tivoli Gardens

This is a famous, amusement and pleasure park in Copenhagen. In my opinion, the best option is to start the day by visiting this park, because of the crowds. Visiting the park at the opening time will make your experience more enjoyable. It takes around 4 hours to visit the park and the ticket costs about 22 euros.

2. Christiansborg Palace

Knowing as Denmark’s center of power is located on Slotsholmen in Copenhagen. The palace is uninhabited and has a stunning interior. Christiansborg Palace is rich in history, and for history lovers, it’s worth a visit.

3. Strøget

Hey, any shopping addict here?! Well, it’s shopping time. Strøget is the most famous shopping mall in Copenhagen and is also considered one of the longest shopping streets in Europe.

4. The Round Tower (Rundetarn)

If you are tired of the crowded shopping streets, then walk up the wide spiral path to the top of The Round Tower and enjoy the stunning view from one of the most beautiful buildings ever built in Copenhagen. The ticket cost around 3 euros.

5. Canal Cruise and Nyhavan district

You can’t say you have been in Copenhagen if you haven’t visited Nyhavan district. The colorful houses of Nyhavan are the most iconic spot in Copenhagen. You can just walk beside the river, or even sit in a bar and enjoy the views. Don’t forget to check for Instagrammable places along the way, I assure you, you will find a lot of beautiful spots to take pictures.

And during the sunset, you can’t miss a Canal Cruise. That will be an experience, a worthy one. This is a perfect way to have some rest because the day has been exhausting. This tour, typically lasts one hour, and for a better price I suggest you book the tour in advance.
Taking this tour you will be able to visit and Little Mermaid statue, another beautiful spot in Copenhagen.

2 days in Copenhagen – Day 2

Remember I said Copenhagen is an extra-green city. Well, then a picnic in one of many parks that the city offers, is a must. So I suggest to have a brunch in one of these places. Here is my top suggestion, as some other alternatives listed above:

Rosenborg Gardens – The beautiful King’s Gardens, located in central Copenhagen, right beside Rosenborg Palace, are a very popular spot for a picnic in the summer. Take youR choice of three entrances and wander along tree-lined paths, under rose-bound arches, and a statue of Hans Christian Andersen and Hercules Pavillion. You can also find a nice rose garden and several fountains.
The visit is free and the opening hours are from 10:00 AM to 20:00 PM.

Other great places to have a picnic in Copenhagen:

Charlottenlund Beach Park

Ostre Anlaeg Park

Faelledparken

Orsteds Park

Amager Strandpark

My suggestion for the rest of the day:

Did you know there is a state inside Copenhagen?

Freetown Christiania – is an intentional community and commune in the Christianshavan neighborhood of Copenhagen. It’s itself governing society, famous for its open trade of cannabis, which is illegal in Denmark.

Freetown Christiania Copenhagen

What do you need to know before visiting this neighborhood?

1. They have their own laws, their own flag, and, their own way of life.

2. Cameras and photography are a big NO in Christiania, the most important thing, if you take any pictures, don’t take photos of people.

3. It’s also forbidden to run.

4. It’s a super colorful neighborhood.

5. They are leading the charge in sustainability.

6. The café scene is amazing.

If you have more time in Copenhagen:

Grundtvig’s Church – Located in Bispebjerg district, this is a rare example of expressionist church architecture. Very picturesque building, with a wonderful interior design.

Amalienborg Castle – Today the palace is the home of the Danish royal family, Prince Joachim, HRH Princess Marie, and HRH Princess Benedikte. Also is the Museum of Danish Monarchy.
Another thing to mention is that every day at 12 pm, you can watch the changing of the guards.
