Top attractions for 2 days in Kuala Lumpur:

Batu Caves

The most impressive attraction around KL is not just a temple, it’s a symbol of Malaysia and what it represents. Batu Caves is a harmony of nature and religion, which deserves to be visited first when in Kuala Lumpur.
Don’t be afraid of monkeys, although wild, they are used to visitors and will freely walk amongst visitors. Avoid bringing plastic bags with food, they will grab you if you have food or drinks visible.
Best to visit early morning before 9 am for good weather, good views, and fewer crowds. Do not visit after 5 pm or you will be affected by the bad traffic.
Remember that it’s a religious temple, so, respect the people who go there for pilgrimage.
The dress code for men is shorts and a shirt and, women must cover their knees and ankles. Sarongs to rent are readily available at the entrance for RM15.

The temple is free to enter, but there are a few art galleries and attractions that have a small fee so bring some cash.

Tip: Traffic can be pretty heavy in this area so give yourself extra time to get there and back to the city center.

Masjid Wilayah Mosque

Architecture and ambiance are two good combinations to describe this majestic mosque. Located near Jalan Duta, on the busy highway near Jalan Duta, this place is a must to stop by. Ottoman architecture and the modern Malaysian style, make the mosque a must-visit when in Kuala Lumpur. Keep in mind that you need to wear modest clothing and you are required to walk around to reach the prayer place. Visiting this mosque at night is another good option as it gives a different vibe and perspective.

There are volunteers ready to explain completely about the history and the architecture, of the mosque.

Visit the Petronas Twin Towers

The iconic PETRONAS Towers are the tallest twin towers in the world, offering outstanding views over the KL. It’s hard to put into words how amazing Petronas Towers are. The illuminated towers by the night created a magical and beautiful sight and you can witness breathtaking views for yourself. The PETRONAS Towers are a symbol of Malaysia’s modernity and are one of the best attractions for anyone visiting Kuala Lumpur. I highly recommend visiting the Twin Towers both by day and by night.

Try to avoid the weekends, The Petronas Towers are always overcrowded but even more on weekends.

KLCC Park

Just a few steps away from Petronas Towers, this is one of the calmest places you can come to relax a bit. The park also offers stunning views over the Twin Towers and is a perfect place to take pictures without waiting in crazy lines and with no people in the background. Many variants and types of slides, hanging, and others for the kids to play with. It has also a free pool for kids, about 1 meter deep. There is a light show at 7.30 pm and a water show at 8:00, 9:00, and 10:00 pm with music in the background. The perfect way to close the day in Kuala Lumpur.

Thean Hou Temple

A Chinese temple with brilliant architecture, vibrant colors, and ornate decoration. The vibe of the temple is so serene. Thean Hou Temple is a beloved spot for locals, especially for Chinese people, as it is one of the biggest Chinese temples in Malaysia. If you are lucky, you may find couples taking wedding photos and celebrating Chinese-Malaysian weddings. I saw 2-3 couples and it was such a beautiful experience for me. This is a must-visit attraction in Malaysia if you like quiet and meditation and especially if you like to explore different cultures. There are always many people coming and going, but can always find a good spot to bring your attention to the deity and find the quiet within. The temple offers great views over the city.

Entry is free of charge but the only way to get there is more expensive than usual, you need to take a taxi or walk uphill.

Pavilion Kuala Lumpur

Pavilion Kuala Lumpur is a shopping haven that never fails to impress! This iconic mall offers a perfect blend of luxury and high-street brands, catering to every shopper’s desire. The architecture is stunning, with beautiful interiors and natural light, creating a peaceful shopping ambiance. The variety of dining options is outstanding, from upscale restaurants to charming cafes. The pavilion also hosts exciting events and exhibitions, adding to the overall experience. Its central location in the heart of Kuala Lumpur makes it easily accessible for locals and tourists alike.
The provides a serene escape from the bustling city, offering a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the breathtaking views of Kuala Lumpur.

Merdeka Square

Is a nice place to walk for sightseeing and photo lovers. Besides admiring the stunning colonial architecture, you can take a stroll along The River of Life and enjoy beautiful views. For graffiti lovers, there are many of beautiful graffiti on the walls beside the river. This place also hosts various events, and if it happens to be there on a national holiday, you can attend any concert or culture showcase.

It is nice at nighttime also, the buildings are lightened up and the river has a beautiful light show.

Menara

Known as Kuala Lumpur Tower is said to be one of the Tallest Towers in the World. That’s the main reason why all the tourists stop and visit it. You can buy a ticket to go to the top of the tower and enjoy the 3600 views over the city. You have three different prices, divided by categories, 1st you are inside the tower behind windows, 2nd outside the tower and 3rd outside but with better views. I suggest buying the ticket online to avoid the crowds, especially if you are visiting the tower by sunset.

Botanical Gardens

There are several botanical gardens in Kuala Lumpur, but if you want to choose only one to visit, it must be the Putrajaya Botanical Garden. It is a nice place for a picnic, with a lot of trees and shade to escape the heat of the city. Putrajaya Botanical Garden is a well-maintained park with several theme gardens, some sponsored pavilions, and an exhibition hall. If you want to visit the parks you can rent a bike at the entrance. The entrance to the park is free for anyone. Don’t skip this in your 2 days in Kuala Lumpur.

Eat street food in your 2 days in Kuala Lumpur

The best activity to do whenever you go is to try the street food. Being that Kuala Lumpur has people from all over Asia, it has also a diverse cuisine. Strolling around the city and trying the diverse street food is an experience in itself. The best places to try street food in Kuala Lumpur are Bukit Bintang street food, Tarma Iraqi street food, and Tapak Urban street food.
